Yet, unspoken syllables have taken custody 
and I cannot shake the harrowing feeling 
that scribbled poetry is like love as fragile as winter’s twigs 
and shriveled branches,
as exquisite as tangled clouds and unraveled arms,
as unhinged as the flaxen moon or the unobstructed stars, 
and only the uncradled heart would think
that poetry cannot save the world,
unstitch the soul
or mend that which is broken.
