The smiling man who blabbers!

a free verse on that man i meet in the park, every day

my eyes were perched on that man,
that homeless man who i see every single day,
rapidly motioning in the park, a friendly face,
waiting for you to smile back, and then wave,
and keep walking, walking,
blabbering something, continuously,
in a language i do not know, his footsteps, caressing,
those penrose stairs and i wonder, how,
how did he end up here, in this present state of mind,
did something, someone shatter his heart, his soul,
or he lost his way in the dungeons of life,
unable to find a way back to the crossroads,
unable to find that helping hand, to pull him up,
does he have a family, maybe frantically searching,
searching for him, someplace else, tensed and helpless,
i wish i could approach him, i wish i could listen to him,
asking him to speak his heart out, and say all’s gonna be well,
but, it seems he wants to be left in his world, a world free from,
all the badness, all the sadness, where it's only him,
probably feeling good, contented, safe.

maybe his old shrunken lips blabbers to the cosmos,
to the infinite space, to the stars,
to the birds, to the trees, something only nature seeps in,
far, far beyond our range of understanding,
who knows!
