Where My Heart Is

The sights and sounds juxtaposing around me

--

I wake up drowsily, my dreams still hugging the quilt,
as my eyes got accustomed to the journey back from the other world,
I saw this wondrous spectacle of intermingling worlds,
that big clock tower of my home town, and right beside, the big dome,
that big dome at this foreign land, but how is it possible, I ask myself,
as my soul drove me towards it, towards that daydreaming that I seemed to witness.

Oh, and there it was, the cacophonies of my mini street of home, with people walking,
cycling, rickshaws chattering, all on their way to the local market, to schools and where not,
but somehow juxtaposed with those modern cars, those fancy streets, big hotels,
and highrise buildings of this foreign land, all as if painted by a painter’s imagination.

Then I see you, amidst all the chaos, your smile, your eyes, and I know,
I know for sure, where my heart is entangled, but you disappear soon,
and so does the streets and everything, and I grow desperate,
desperate in search of the pieces of my heart, that has fallen in so many places,
those pieces that I have lost and never gathered back,
and I fail to find it again today, perhaps I will find it back,
again when I go back home, in the lap of my mother, shall I find it back,
as a sort of intoxication took over me, I knew,
where my heart is.
